Pure cotton handkerchiefs—several types of fabric available.
All our handkerchiefs are made from pure cotton. After testing several different fabrics (sneezing, blowing, wiping, you name it!), we determined that cotton is the best one for the task. With this in mind, we started exploring the various types of cotton and settled on three:
Cotton Sateen
So, to be perfectly honest, sateen is our fave. Satiny, smooth, soft and absorbent, it sort of meets all the criteria right there. Plus, we’ve found a supplier that certifies its cotton sateen to be organic, so we heart it even more. Cotton Sateen is just the right thickness too. It can be used on single ply styles and is absorbent enough to ensure your fingers stay clean—but it’s also light enough to be doubled up into a thick hanky for more absorbency. Allergic? You cannot find a better fit than our two-ply cotton handkerchiefs.
Cotton Lawn
Cotton Lawn is fantastic when combined with a thicker fabric—or simply doubled up. It is incredibly light—almost translucent and weighs nothing. Sleek and soft, it becomes softer every time you wash it. Our two-ply styles made with cotton lawn are great, as they remain thin enough to fit anywhere. Discover Guillaume, doubled up with black sateen, or Eugene, our blue cotton handkerchief, featuring two plies of royal blue lawn.
Cotton Poplin
Poplin is similar to sateen but the weave is different. It’s a tad more durable because of its incredibly fine weave, but a little less soft than sateen. We love it because it’s quite fine—somewhere between sateen and lawn. It perfectly complements a piece of sateen to form a double ply cotton handkerchief that absorbs and allies durability and comfort. Meet Vanessa, one of our most loved hankies made from poplin and sateen.
Small or large handkerchiefs: the choice is yours!
Depending on how you wear your hanky—stuffed in a pocket or your sleeve, neatly folded in its case or thrown in a basket and picked up when the need arises—you might prefer a smaller sized hanky, or a larger one. Here at TSHU, we wanted to keep a cute aesthetic and so we doubled up the handkerchief in thickness rather than in size, to give you more power of absorbency without the “bed sheet effect”.
